Before you start

  • A Windows administrator account and VMware Workstation installed. Guided setup for VMware Workstation. Hyper-V and ESXi are in validation; we confirm your hypervisor before you buy. Setup checks the available tools.
  • Enough available processor, memory and disk capacity for a new appliance VM. Setup checks these before creating it.
  • An existing virtual network that supplies an IPv4 address by DHCP, a destination for the new VM, and your site’s network and server address details from IT. Your IT administrator can reserve the appliance’s address.
  • Your setup key and internet access for the verified download and key activation. Keep the setup key private. For an offline installation, request the signed licence file and installation media.

Set up your site

  1. Open DockLedger Setup on the Windows host and enter the setup key there.
  2. Choose the hypervisor agreed with DockLedger, an existing network and a new VM location. Review the checks before creating the appliance.
  3. Enter the local owner and IT recovery accounts in Setup. It pairs with the new appliance and creates the owner account automatically. If you are following the manual installation route, use the pairing code on the VM console to complete the browser setup.
  4. Sign in locally. The signed licence controls the modules, seats and expiry for this site.

A licence number is a reference, not a setup key. Never place your setup key in a web address or send it with support screenshots.
